I’m a quantitative family sociologist in the Department of Sociology at Tilburg University. My research explores how people ‘do’ family in contemporary society—how they form, maintain, and navigate intimate relationships and family life. I study key transitions such as entering a partnership, separating, repartnering, and becoming a parent, and how these are linked to well-being and intergenerational connections.

Currently, much of my work focuses on (voluntary) childlessness and the transition to parenthood. I’m particularly interested in how individuals make decisions about family life, and how these choices shape (and are shaped by) broader social norms and structures.
